Today we make the long drive from Buffalo to Boston, bipassing Albany where our show was cancelled which is a mega-bummer. I was really looking forward to eating at Bombers.

The shows so far have surprised me. I find myself standing in a corner before our set nervous that nobody will come but when we start playing there are suddenly smiling faces and I’m squinting through the stage lights to make eye contact. It’s a good feeling. It’s a weird feeling when you think about what you look like to them because they don’t have to squint to see you. Do you look happy enough, confident enough or do you come across as lost inside your own head? Sometimes I feel so lost inside of myself it takes a lot to get out.

The last few shows we’ve been lucky enough to have friends willing to show us around these places we’ve never been and I feel like it was a miracle I stayed up as late as I did in Lansing and was dragging my feet through Chicago the next day. These nights, after the shows, have been the most important to me — where I lay on the floor next to my friends and we count our flaws like poker chips and talk about what makes us nervous or what we want for ourselves, but we always laugh. Sometimes so much I can’t breath.  I feel so lucky that I get to see the people I love from all around the country and it’s like there were never ever any miles between us.
